GPS in Italy

Mike in Italy with the Sendero GPS on a BrailleNote PK
After two days at the Sight Village conference in Birmingham England, my son Wyndham and I flew to Rome to see how the new 4.0 maps worked in Italy as well as to check out a little history, food and Italian ambiance. We walked about 6 kilometers on our first outing and managed to survive some hairy street crossings with motor scooters appearing from nowhere.

The data content is fantastic. I haven't recorded a single user point yet because every place we go is already in the commercial database and the accuracy is quite good. I just wish the BrailleNote spoke the street names in Italian. Thank goodness for the Braille display. What a contrast with England where it was rainy. It is almost too warm here in Rome. This won't keep us from exploring the many sites and restaurants over the next 2 days.
