about POI media files

There is a beautiful nature area on the UC Davis campus called the Arboretum. Putah Creek runs through it with a path on both banks and occasional bridges. Over the past 75 years, the university has planted various micro climates like the Australian collection and a mini redwood forest.

There are plaques throughout this area and I have started recording audio files to be associated with the GPS point at each plaque. Now as you walk through the Arboretum, the LookAround feature triggers the POI plaques. A unique beep lets you know that the POI contains media. You can then elect to play that media file. On the Braille keyboard, you use dots 456 and enter.

Should you wish to take a virtual tour of the Arboretum, check for updates using Sendero Maps or download the latest USA User file. Put yourself in Davis California and search on the word Arboretum. Then put yourself virtually at one of those points and search for nearby POIs with media.

Remember when you are recording your own user points to simply push record on your device when someone is reading you a plaque or for that matter, a menu. You can either do this at the time of recording the POI or you can attach the audio file later.

Let me know what you think of the Arboretum recordings, read by my assistant who has just a trace of an accent. I'll let you guess what her second language is.
